I’m sure everyone is familiar with a military jacket that has four pockets, where the top two are angled. The Tropical Combat Coat, also known as the Jungle Fatigue Jacket, is without a doubt one of the most recognized pieces of military clothing. If you haven’t seen it in real life, you definitely did on the big screen, as it often appears in movies set in the '60s or '70s, but also in many modern films as well.

Most of the jungle jackets we see in public or on screen come in a very nice, slightly lighter shade of Olive Green (military OG-107). This is usually because these jackets are vintage and have been worn and washed many times since they were made 50-60 years ago. If you want the same charming effect, you should get a vintage one as they’re easy to find, but take your time to pick one, as prices can go anywhere between 100 and 300€.

But today you have one more option that many menswear enthusiasts turn to - high-quality reproductions and more sartorial, contemporary versions. There are a few brands that specialize in reproducing original military garments from different time periods. They usually have their own archives of various versions and reproduce them down to the smallest details.

What’s important to point out is that most of these brands approach reproduction with great attention to detail, so many of these pieces are made from best quality fabrics and crafted with exceptional attention to detail, which is why some can be quite expensive.

In this article, I didn't go into detail about the different versions (there are four versions of the Jungle Jacket), and I didn't cover where to find vintage pieces. Instead, I focused on the best-quality reproductions you can buy today.
