If you follow me, you’re probably familiar with my love for tote bags. The word tote means “to carry,” and the version of a tote bag as we know it today was introduced as Bean’s Ice Carrier way back in 1944. The Boat and Tote was billed as a bag made of builders' canvas for hauling ice “from car to ice chest.” And it’s still my favorite type of bag. Tote bags look good and work for basically everything - you can use one for work or take it to the beach. They’re also great if you need to carry a slightly heavier load than usual, making them perfect for a trip to the market or grocery store. They come in many different styles. The original and most common version is made from heavy canvas, but there are also options with leather handles or premium versions made entirely from leather or suede. They also come in slightly different dimensions. The simplest designs are completely plain, while more complex or premium versions might include a laptop sleeve and a few small compartments inside. This is the most luxurious version of the tote bag. Most of them feature similar or identical designs to those in the premium canvas section but are made entirely from leather or suede.
