Spring-Summer Tonal Capsule Wardrobe with Poszetka
Poszetka recently released their Spring–Summer collection, which is very neutral this year. In the whole collection there are only a few colorful items, which got me thinking about my own take on a summer palette. For me a Spring–Summer color palette includes shades of blue, from navy to light blue, and plenty of white. White trousers are my summer staple. There’s also some beige and olive, but not many earth tones overall.
When I went through the collection, I realized that most of the tonal pieces come in shades that pair really well together. That got me thinking: would it be possible to create a tonal capsule wardrobe that covers everything you need from May to September?
Preview of the capsule collection
I had some doubts when I first put all the pieces together, but they disappeared after I tried everything on for this photoshoot. And to be honest, I felt really good in this color palette. It turns out brown works really well with my skin tone. So yes, I think these 11 pieces could be everything you need this summer.
I wanted to keep this capsule wardrobe as minimal as it gets, but still very versatile. The idea was to have all the pieces available in colors from light to dark. There are 3 jackets, 5 shirts and 3 pairs of trousers. There are also 2 pairs of shoes, plus a tie and a pocket square, that I used as a bandana. Only 2 pieces are very casual, everything else is a bit more elegant.
Brown PoW Check Sportcoat
I went with 2 sportcoats with a lot of contrast, so we have both dark and light options. A Brown PoW Check Sportcoat, which is actually from their early spring collection. This Japanese-made hopsack is perfect for spring and should be wearable even in the summer when it’s not too hot. Since there are a lot of light items in this collection, I wanted to include one dark jacket to create a nice contrast. It actually pairs really well with the dark brown trousers from this collection as well.
Beige Herringbone Wool/Silk/Linen Sportcoat
The Beige Herringbone Sportcoat is also from the early spring collection. The wool/silk/linen fabric is really comfortable because it’s very soft and will form well around your body. It’s also very light and breathable, making it a perfect choice for spring-summer weather. As I prefer lighter colors, this is actually one of my favorite pieces this spring. The color of coffee-dyed silk is very unique and it really stands out with the herringbone pattern. The color of the jacket is not too light, so it works perfectly with all the colors in this capsule wardrobe.
Undyed HBT Utility Shirt
I also picked the Undyed HBT Utility Shirt, which is the casual jacket option if you want to layer. This is actually their Military Overshirt, but in a lighter color that is more versatile in warmer months. This warm, light color transforms the overshirt from military appeal to something very casual, and it works really well with basically all colors, not just this color palette.
Since this is a spring-summer capsule wardrobe, I made sure the base layers cover every possible occasion and you can wear them alone or layered under a jacket. These five pieces complete the color palette and pair perfectly with all the jackets and trousers.
Raglan Sleeve Cream and Brown Stripe Knitted T-Shirt
I started with a cream and brown stripe knitted t-shirt. Most pieces in this collection are plain, so I thought it would be great to include one piece with a strong pattern that stands out. Since this is a knitted t-shirt, it’s a lot more elegant and works really well with tailoring. The stripes will always create a more casual vibe when worn with tailoring.
Off-White and Brown Polo Shirts
For a simple base element, I picked the off-white knitted polo shirt. This is the lightest color of all the base layers and it pairs well with every single item. The same goes for the brown knitted long-sleeve polo shirt, which you can also wear on colder days.
Brown Linen Shirt
The brown linen shirt has a soft, washed-out shade that falls between off-white and dark brown, and I think it a perfect choice if you want a color that’s neither too light nor too dark. It pairs really well with all jackets and trousers from this capsule wardrobe.
White Brown Striped Shirt
White Brown Shirt
The white and brown striped shirt (releasing in early June) is the most formal base layer in this selection. I went for a striped shirt instead of a plain white one to add more visual interest. It works really well with both sportcoats. For a formal look, you can pair it with a brown linen and silk tie, or wear it very casually when unbuttoned with a spread collar.
Brown and Undyed Heavy Linen Trousers
Undyed HBT POSZ-53 Trousers
If you want a very casual summer look, I added the undyed HBT POSZ-53 trousers. These are actually their version of fatigue trousers, but they have a totally casual appeal in this color. They’ve also improved the fit of this model, so it has a bit more room in the leg, and now they fit and drape even better. These are a great option if you want a very relaxed summer aesthetic (and they pair really well with beige linen espadrilles).
If you prefer to dress more elegantly, you can remove both undyed herringbone pieces and reduce the collection down to 9 pieces, which might still be enough to get you through the summer. I only chose 2 pairs of footwear to keep it as minimal as possible, but still making sure you have options for different occasions in the summer. I picked brown leather tassel loafers (their own version - releasing in early June) and beige linen espadrilles. Tassel loafers work with all tailoring pieces, while you can pick espadrilles when you want a more casual appeal.
I added a tie and a pocket square in case you have to attend any formal events, but you can also use the pocket square as a bandana if you want to add an extra element to any of your outfits. All trousers are worn with brown suede or brown leather classic 1" belts. The sunglasses you see in the photos are their collaboration with the Polish eyewear brand Sirène.
I am 180 cm tall, weigh 82 kg, and wear sportcoats in size 52, overshirts in size L, T-shirts and polos in size L, shirts in size 41, and trousers in size 48 or M.
