Things I like this month - April 2025

'Things I Like This Month,' is a monthly newsletter where I share things I genuinely like or that stood out to me and felt worth talking about.

Everything you read in this article is my honest opinion, and nothing is paid for. I’m always excited to see new quality products and discover new brands or makers, so I’m always very happy when you guys send me suggestions or something you think I might like.

Tom Wood Sakura collection rings

I’ve never really worn any jewelry other than watches, but over the last year or two rings have really grown on me. I’m particularly interested in silver, not only because it pairs well with a steel watch, but also because over time, it develops subtle character that shows it’s lived with you. A few weeks ago I saw these rings from Tom Wood’s Sakura collection and I think they perfectly capture spring. Because the design is so subtle, you can wear it year-round, and even on a freezing winter morning this soft pink shade will remind you that warmer, brighter days are coming.

P.S. If you have any suggestions for rings, please send them my way. I’m interested to learn about as many quality brands and makers as possible.

Spring Jackets

Warmer weather calls for lighter fabrics, so we put our fall/winter jackets back in the closet for a couple of months and bring out lighter, more breathable versions. This change in season also means that the color palette shifts from darker tones to lighter colors, mostly shades from off-white to light brown, with some navy and light grey in between. And of course, this is the season when some people experiment with a lot of pastels and bolder colors as well. I personally prefer more neutral, lighter colors, and there are a few great options that were released this season. I particularly like the Summer Tweed glencheck jacket from Berg & Berg, the Sand Herringbone and Beige Herringbone jackets from Poszetka, and the Grey Houndstooth and Grey Herringbone jackets from Natalino.

Poszetka Linen Trousers

Even though the weather has been very unpredictable lately, the days are getting really warm and summer is just a couple of weeks away. I was very happy when I saw that Poszetka released Spring-Summer trousers in lighter tones this year. The pearl and undyed linen are both great shades, and the fit of these trousers is spot on! They may seem more formal, but they can be worn casually since they have belt loops.

Breitling Top Time B31

I was really surprised when I saw that Breitling released the new Top Time B31 watch with a new in-house caliber a couple of weeks ago. It totally caught me off guard because this is a brand I really haven't paid much attention to, since most of their designs over the last five years just didn’t speak to me. But this watch is very different from what we’re used to seeing from Breitling – it’s smaller, has a vintage appeal and it’s fun! Especially in the white and light blue dial variation. The open caseback is just a sweet bonus. They also nailed the launch campaign! I’m not really an Austin Butler fan, but his timeless aesthetic paired with this watch on a leather strap feels like a natural match – something we unfortunately don’t see often in endorsement deals anymore, since some celebrities switch brands as quickly as they do partners. I have to admit, this watch made me excited about watches again.

Western Shirts

Lately I’ve been looking back to the past for inspiration and have fallen into a bit of an obsession with Western shirts. Since I prefer a worn-in look (I know, many denim enthusiasts will probably roll their eyes now), I focused on washed denim versions. Of course I had to research all the quality options available today. Which one you prefer really comes down to personal preference, but to be honest, I don’t think there’s one wash that is better than the others, because they all have different appeal. I suggest checking out my list of the best quality washed denim Western shirts and deciding for yourself.

Barbanera Cormac Black Calf Boots - "Black Wolf" Special Edition

When I think about different ways to wear a Western shirt, my favorite way is with loafers which can work for both very casual and very elegant looks. The second, and more original option is to wear it with cowboy boots. This is a style that I always thought was a bit too much for me personally, but it’s one of those pieces that has recently grown on me. There are lots of different versions of cowboy boots, and the more authentic versions are a bit too bulky for my taste, so I tend to lean towards the versions that I would call cleaner or more minimalistic cowboy boots. One of the nicest examples I’ve come across is the Cormac Boots from Barbanera in Black Calf. I haven’t tried them yet, but they seem like solid quality, are Goodyear welted and made in Italy.

Nicola Radano - Mezzogiorno Beige Linen Tote Bag

When I saw this tote, it immediately reminded me of a summer day by the sea. It’s not a classic canvas tote that most of us use for daily activities or to take to the beach, but rather a more elegant summer version. The shape is just a bit smoother than a classic canvas tote, but also different from more elegant suede totes, so it perfectly fills the gap for a casual summer bag.

Morjas Boat Shoes

Morjas just released this year’s version of their boat shoes and added Taupe Nubuck and White Grain Leather to their already existing lineup of Black and Brown leather and Black and Brown Suede versions. I wasn’t a big fan of boat shoes, but this Morjas version, which is their interpretation of this timeless silhouette, is a lot cleaner than a classic boat shoe. The whole upper and the few details they used are all made from the same material and color, so it has a very minimalistic appeal. I really like the brown suede version, but it might be just a bit too dark to be the most versatile option in summer, but it’s perfect for adding contrast to summer tailoring. The new Taupe Nubuck version might be more versatile because this lighter shade works better with a wider range of colors and fabrics. In the end, which one you prefer or which one might be more versatile for you comes down to the color palette of your spring-summer wardrobe and your personal preference.
