Things I like this month - June 2026
'Things I Like This Month,' is a monthly newsletter where I share things I genuinely like or that stood out to me and felt worth talking about.
Everything you read in this article is my honest opinion, and nothing is paid for. I’m always excited to see new quality products and discover new brands or makers, so I’m always very happy when you guys send me suggestions or something you think I might like.
Peplord - The Maxence Trousers
It’s been a few years that I have been looking for the right pair of casual summer trousers that would suit my personal style really well. Fatigues don’t really work for me because no matter how I style them, I feel like a soldier, and chinos are just too warm when it’s really hot. Linen trousers in the right cut are very versatile, but they can be too elegant to pair with some fabrics.
Usually I know exactly what I want, but every now and then I have to see a product to realize this is what I have been looking for. Back in January, Giuseppe showed me this special hemp fabric made from fibers that are over a century old, which he used to make the Maxence Safari jacket and trousers. I really liked the feel and texture of it, but back in January I didn’t even consider that this fabric could work in the summer.
Six months later, I met him again in Florence while I was there for Pitti Uomo, and he was wearing the trousers in the new olive colour. He told me that I might be surprised by how breathable this hemp fabric is. I really liked the jackets made from this fabric, but until I saw that olive pair, I wasn’t really sure about the trousers. It could be partly because the texture of the white trousers was a bit smoother than that of the olive and camel versions, as each batch of this more than 100-year-old hemp fabric is slightly different due to the texture of the yarns and the way they are woven. I also think most of the photos don’t do these trousers justice, they look much nicer when they are ironed and have a sharp crease.
The combination of a classic, more elegant cut with double pleats and a fabric that drapes really well, but isn’t as smooth and elegant as linen, gives them a bit more rugged appeal, which makes them really unique and super versatile.
When I met Giuseppe two days later, he was wearing his olive pair again, and that's when I knew this was it, that these were the summer trousers I had been searching for all this time - a pair of trousers with the right cut and great drape that are elegant and rugged at the same time, but never feel dressy, so you can wear them with a linen shirt or a military jacket. And it’s mostly due to this unique hemp fabric, which works so unexpectedly well with a classic double-pleated cut. Unfortunately, the olive ones were already sold out, but the camel version is equally beautiful.
I got size 32 (46), and the fit is perfect for me, I just had to get them hemmed.
Dalmo - Cashmere Vittorio Knitted Polo Shirt
I knew about Dalmo Cashmere for years, but I never had the chance to see their products in person until this June, when I visited their private showroom at Pitti Uomo. For those who are not familiar with them, they are a third-generation, family-run knitwear company based in Tuscany. The company was established in 1950, and they mainly made knitwear for other brands until the founder’s granddaughter Clotilde took over and decided to offer made-to-measure and ready-to-wear knitwear under their own label.
Their knitwear is quite unique because it is made from more luxurious yarns, and every piece is hand-framed, so nothing is machine-made. Online they have a very limited selection of ready-to-wear styles, basically just a knitted T-shirt in two styles and two polo styles, one with buttons and one without. But if you visit one of their trunk shows, there are more styles to choose from, and I’m sure there will be more options available online in the future as well.
The Vittorio Polo stood out to me because the collar is a bit larger than on most polos, which I think looks very chic. The cotton-linen blend also feels great and is perfect for hot summer days.
I got it in size M.
Sartolane - Unlined Tote Bag
Just before Pitti, Mateusz showed me the sample of this new Unlined Tote Bag from Sartolane, but I wasn't sure if I really needed a bigger tote. Although I have to admit that I have preferred the shape of this one to their classic tote ever since I first saw it.
But actually this tote has a different purpose, even though it can be used for many similar things. This one is unlined to reduce the weight, and it only comes with one inside pocket where you can store your phone, wallet, keys, or sunglasses. There’s no laptop sleeve, which is usually a dealbreaker for me, but considering that this tote is a bit more relaxed and not so structured, I can understand that.
Over the last two weeks I used it a lot for travel. I still dislike that I have to put my computer in a sleeve or folio before putting it in the bag, but most of the time I use this bag is when I don’t take my computer with me anyway.
It’s a great everyday bag for running errands because you can fit a lot in it, but it is also quite a niche product. Can you wear it to the office? Absolutely, because it is very elegant and clean.
But if you are looking for a bag you can use every day for many different purposes that is more elegant and beautiful than a canvas tote, this is it. And purely aesthetically, I think this is the nicest Sartolane bag so far.
Banton Frameworks - Mòr Alder in Midnight Havana
Last year I really wanted to try the Mor M frame, but I never got the chance to do it. Even though I prefer smaller frames when it comes to prescription glasses, I wanted to try the new Mor Alder when they announced it. With these bolder frames, you really have to try them, because you either look cool or creepy.
I got the chance to try these, and I think they work really well for me. Like all Banton frames, the build quality is exceptional. Frames from the Mor line are even thicker, so with these you definitely make a statement.
I also have to say that I would not pick something this bold for my main daily frames, but I would wear them when I feel I need some extra flair or for the right occasion. It is a really unique frame, but they have a great selection of different styles, so if you are looking for high-quality eyewear from an independent brand, definitely check them out.
They release their glasses in small batches only a few times a year, and the next opportunity to buy them will be on July 15.
Edward Green - Pimlico Loafer
I have been admiring Edward Green shoes for many years, but they might have been a bit too elegant for my personal style. So I was really surprised when they released a new penny loafer called Pimlico. It comes on the newly developed 125 Last, which has a balanced round toe with a defined side wall. It also has a lower vamp.
I saw it at Pitti, and I think it’s a very well-proportioned, more casual penny loafer that still has the elegance Edward Green is known for. Even though these might be a bit more elegant than my current favourite LHS Penny Loafers from Alden, I think they could work very well for me as they could add just the right touch of extra elegance to my casual looks - for example when I wear military jackets or a western shirt.
I especially like the unlined version, and the shade of Peat Suede is really nice. It’s definitely something I didn’t expect from Edward Green, but I’m very glad they did it, and it makes me excited to see what else they might come up with in the future.
Decorum - The Old Trove Chino Shorts
I have quite specific taste, but also a very specific body type with a slim waist and big legs, so I struggle with finding ready-to-wear trousers and shorts. It’s a little better with shorts, but still far from easy.
Even with shorts, I prefer a higher rise, and I also like shorter shorts - not Magnum P.I. short, but 2-3 inches above the knee. When it comes to classic shorts, I prefer those with pleats and belt loops, and these Decorum The Old Trove Chino Shorts tick all the boxes and also have some of the best proportions for my body type.
The width is just right so they drape well, and they sit around 3 inches above my knees, which is perfect, so I don’t need to make any alterations. They are made in Japan from 100% cotton canvas, and they are available in navy, olive, and khaki. I wear size 32.
Rubato - Camp Collar Shirt
Even in summer, I prefer to wear long-sleeve shirts, but I roll the sleeves up a bit. I very rarely wear short-sleeve shirts - it has to be really hot, or I have to be inspired by something, or heading to the beach. I think these are almost the only situations in which you will see me wearing a short-sleeve shirt, so maybe I don’t pay too much attention to them. And even though I like Aloha shirts, they are a bit too much for my personal style. I prefer a cleaner, more minimal look.
So when I saw that Rubato released their new camp-collar shirt, it caught my attention because I think they really nailed the proportions, and I don’t even like shirts that only have one chest pocket with a flap!
I also think that going with 100% linen in plain colors is very Rubato, but also a really nice move. I really like the shirt in dark brown and navy, and if I had to pick a summer shirt to wear to a dinner on the beach, I think that would be it.
Outfit Narrative for Poszetka - “Summer Essentials”
It’s been a month since the launch of Summer Essentials, and I have to admit that even I was surprised by how well received the Summer Shirt was, which was basically completely sold out in the first 24 hours. I’m really happy with how these pieces turned out, and I have been wearing mine a lot since I got them in mid-May.
Even though the shirts and shorts are almost completely sold out, the navy seersucker suit is still available, and so are the bandanas. For summer we also restocked the pink popover, and you can still get the off-white baseball cap.
You can get 10% off with code ON10
