Things I like this month - April 2026
'Things I Like This Month,' is a monthly newsletter where I share things I genuinely like or that stood out to me and felt worth talking about.
Everything you read in this article is my honest opinion, and nothing is paid for. I’m always excited to see new quality products and discover new brands or makers, so I’m always very happy when you guys send me suggestions or something you think I might like.
Peplord Pontos Jacket
There are many different versions of field jackets available, and almost every menswear brand has already tried making their own, but I think this one is very unique. First, because it’s made from a very unique hand-woven hemp fabric, sourced from fibers that are over a century old. This fabric has a strong character and a distinct tight weave that’s very durable, but also breathable, so it works well in warmer climates, while still being dense enough to keep you warm when it gets colder.
Another quite unusual thing, considering this is a field jacket, are the raglan sleeves, which make sense since the inspiration for this jacket was the US Air Force M-61 parka. This design detail is one of the reasons why the jacket offers a more relaxed fit and extra room for layering. It features four large flap chest pockets and a drawstring waist that lets you cinch it in to improve the fit and shape. And the combination of this fabric and navy color makes it more casual, so it doesn’t really feel like a military jacket.
The first production is already sold out, but a restock is planned, and if all goes well, it should be available again in June.
Outfit Narrative x Poszetka Rugby Shirt
I wasn’t completely happy with the embroidery quality on the first samples of the rugby shirt, so we had to find a new maker to get the details right, which is why the rugby was available later than the rest of the collection.
The rugby shirt is a staple in classic style, but I wanted to make it a bit more elegant, so we made the body less boxy, so when you tuck it in, you don’t get too much excess fabric around the waist, and we made a bigger, more structured collar. The cut is also slightly shorter, so it looks great tucked or untucked. It’s made from 100% cotton single jersey, washed to give it a worn-in look and eliminate potential shrinkage. It features a special Outfit Narrative x Poszetka embroidered crest on the chest (you can read more about the crest here). It’s also a great layering piece for spring, since it will soon be too warm for a regular sweatshirt.
I wear size L. (You can get 10% off with code ON10)
Pedemeia Organic Cotton Ribbed Socks
Not so long ago I wrote about why I always wear knee-high socks, but I have to admit that there are days when I don’t. When I don’t, I still prefer ribbed socks, but with a more casual fabric and texture. Preferably ones that slip down as little as possible, so I don’t have to adjust them every few minutes. And since there are a lot of people who prefer not to wear knee-high socks, or don’t wear them with casual looks, these are a great option and very good value, and they also come in a nice variety of solid colors. My favorite are beige (basically off-white), yellow, blue, and lilas.
Serica Ref. 5330
A couple of weeks ago Serica released the new Ref. 5330. It’s their diver, but now available with a date window, and it comes with a new warm grey bezel. The case is 39mm in diameter and 12.2mm thick, which on paper is very thick in my opinion, but considering it is water resistant up to 300m, this is very solid. When you put it on the wrist it’s actually great, it has proportions of a vintage diver, and it feel thinner and wears great. I generally dislike almost everything in grey, but this polished grey bezel is really subtle, and the color changes with reflections so it never really feels grey.
I was offered to try out the watch for two weeks, and it turned out to be more versatile than I expected. Originally it comes on their Vesper mesh bracelet with an extra off-white NATO strap. I got it on a NATO, but also wore it with my black leather strap and it looks great with both, but the black leather strap turns it into a watch that can be dressed up and looks great with a sport coat, although I still wouldn’t wear it with a suit.
When it comes to watches, I usually prefer a cleaner dial and symmetry, and I think you don’t really need a date on a diver, but I have to admit that I really like the new date window on the Ref. 5330, probably because it’s very small and subtle, and doesn’t come with a cyclops, so you only notice it when you actually want to check the date. The red color adds some extra character to the dial, which I think works really well with this watch.
Overall I think it’s a great watch, and it wasn’t easy to part ways with it after two weeks. Actually this might be my new favorite Serica.
Serge Denimes Rings
I was searching for rings that I might like and doing some more research on jewellery when I came across this brand, and I really like some of their designs. They are a London-based jewellery label that sits somewhere between fashion jewellery and entry-level “fine” jewellery, so I think they are a good option for somebody who is just entering the jewellery world and exploring what he likes (which is what I currently consider myself when it comes to rings). Their aesthetic is a mix of vintage and classic styles with more modern designs. Most pieces are made from 925 sterling silver, some with gold plating (14k/24k), and their jewellery is hallmarked to confirm metal quality. They are designed in London and hallmarked in the UK, with most products made by partners in Thailand, Italy, and China.
Asahi Athletic
I’m a fan of Asahi, their deck shoes have been my go-to canvas sneakers for years, and I think they are deck shoes with the nicest design and proportions. This spring they released a new model - Athletic, which is a reproduction of a model they already made back in the 80s, and is based on original Converse sneakers. I really like this classic style, so I’m happy to see we got a better quality alternative to All-Stars.
Metier A5 Notebook Cover
I have been searching for a leather notebook cover for a long time, and even though there are a few solid options available, most of them have a detail or two that are a deal breaker for me. This version from Métier is very minimalistic, and it’s actually made from leather and covered with a smooth, water-resistant cotton canvas fabric. It’s made from natural linen and cotton near Lake Como, and printed with a unique diamond pattern that’s inspired by Art Deco motifs. I really like this graphic, but I wouldn’t mind if they also offered a plain, full leather version. The design features a pen loop, so your pen is always with your notebook, and a few card slots on the inside, which I consider very practical, but I would actually use to store a couple of extra notes, business cards or bills, and these are exactly the details I need.
Spring Sportcoats
Spring Sportcoats
In spring we have to put away a lot of our winter sportcoats and suits, because warmer weather calls for lighter, more breathable fabrics, and a lot of us also reach for lighter and brighter colors. I often check what’s new each season, not so much to shop, but more often to look for inspiration, to see if there are any interesting fabrics or patterns. If you are looking to add a new sportcoat this spring, there are a couple of great options. I like the Brown Houndstooth option from Poszetka, Straw Herringbone Linen and Sage Green Linen (which can be worn as a suit) from Natalino, Brown and Ecru Stripe Oxford Linen from Drake’s, Light Blue/Ecru Check Summer Tweed from Berg & Berg, Blue Linen from Fortela, and Italian Greyhound from The Anthology.
